Formative assessment
With the new Assessment law in Catalonia, teachers have already started changing the way to evaluate our students. Experts think that putting into practice a formative assessment will lead to important improvement in the learning results. Learning to assess well is one of the basic conditions of learning to learn. Using rubrics we can assess what students have learnt, but also other relevant aspects nowadays: . teamwork - organisation - creativity - critical thinking - problem solving capacity You can create your own rubric or use webtools such as Rubistar Useful documents: Avaluar per aprendre
Online quizzes
We have discovered three tools that can be used to assess students:

With google forms, you can prepare a test with many questions of different kind. They can be closed or open questions and you can even add a video or a reading activity. I find it useful to send to students or to insert it on the English moodle or blog.
Socratice allows you to assess the students, too but in a more playful way. You can play it in different ways, individually, in groups...
Plickers has also the feel of a game. You can present a test
The advantage of this tool is that students don't need their smartphone or a computer. Only the teacher's smartphone to scan the QR codes is necessary.

These are two applications which I find really very useful for recording videos in the English class. These are:
Chromavid and Green screen app.

VR Expeditions
With the app Expeditions and some virtual goggles, students can do activities with virtual reality. These are the five expeditions I have selected:
- A Dickens Christmas: students from 2nd ESO read the book a Christmas Carol, so they could also do some activities about Dickens' life
- 7 New Wonders of the World: for students of 4th ESO,
- American Landmarks: to work about the natural and also human-made symbolic landmarks in the USA.
- Ancient Rome: for sudents of 1st ESO, together with the history class
- Australia: for students of 3rd ESO, culture and gography about this English-speaking country.
Other interesting expeditions:
- Career expedition: Paid to eat chocolate
- Edingburg castle
- Female Scientists

Augmented reality

Augmented reality (AR) is a new technology that projects ndigital objects onto a real-world background. These objects show up on the screen of your device usig the augmented reality software.
Blippard and Quivervision are two useful apps that can be used to use this technology in your English class.
Activity for 1st ESO (English and Science)
One example of this we could use is the following image of a cell that you can print from the Quiver website. This image would be the Trigger. With the use of the smartphone or tablet, students scan the image, and then they can practice the parts of the cell in an interective and very visual way.
Another good app, speacially to create you own AR projects is HPreveal:dimecres, 3 de juliol del 2019
